This tutorial will show you how to install Fabric for Minecraft 1.17.

Step 1: Launch Minecraft Java Edition
Start Minecraft and in the drop down menu to the left of the green play button, select “Latest Release 1.17” and click “Play”. This will update Minecraft to the latest version or version selected.
After it is complete, and the game menu displays, you can then quit Minecraft:
Step 2: Install Fabric Loader
Download and install the Fabric loader at the following web site:
You can choose the Java or Windows Installer.
After downloading, open the Fabric Loader and a window will pop up.
Make sure it says “1.17” next to Minecraft version.
Also make sure the checkbox is checked next to “Create Profile”.
Click the install button and if all goes well you should get a window that says “successfully installed”.
Click ok and close the application.
Step 3: Download and install the Fabric API
To download, go to the following web site:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fabric-api
Look on the right side of the page under “Recent Files”. Find the one that says “Minecraft 1.17” and has a green R icon to the left of it. Click the orange download arrow icon and save to your computer.
Next you need to copy this folder into your Minecraft mods folder. To do so, launch Minecraft and click on the “installations” menu at the top. Next, find the installation that should be called “fabric-loader-1.17” and click on the folder icon to the right of it.
This will open up a folder which contains your mods folder. Go ahead and open the mods folder and paste the fabric api file here.
Congratulations, Fabric should now officially be installed!
Now you need to test it to make sure it is working properly.
Step 4: Test Fabric
Go to the CurseForge website again and download a Fabric mod compatible with Minecraft 1.17. In this video, we chose a mod called “No Weather Effects“.
To install this mod, follow the same instructions as when installing the Fabric API file as mentioned above.
Simply download and place in your Minecraft mods folder.
Start Minecraft and test it out.
If you are testing with this mod, it should always show clear skies even if you activate rain or thunder.
